Nomination of Councillors.

On Monday at noon the Returning Officer announced that the following persoiis . had /been proposed ;and nominated for the office of Councillor for the Foxton Borough Council; ' ' '• Austin, Robert, nominated by A. E. Nixon and Henry Border.

Wilson, Thomas, nominated by Thomas P. Williams and Ernest JS. Thynne.

Walden, Richard, nominated by Thomas Westwood and Matthew Henry Walker.

Mr Gibson also stated that the; election would be held in the Library on Thursday, Bth September between the hours of 9 o'clock and 6 o'clock.

Those present called upon the candidates for a speech.

Mr S. Startup said, he would go hammering away to reduce the ad* vertising. He thought he had been the means of reducing it considerably.

Mr R. Austin said he would do his best as he had done in the past and hoped for the support of the ratepayers.

Mr J. R. McMillan said he was going to try and get in through thick and thin, but his pet hobby was a water supply, which he considered
