Kereru.
(from our own correspondent.) All the bush felled in the winterhas been burned and in most cases, very successfully but there are some few exceptions where the new comers will find themselves sadly handicapped. Sir Walter Buller has a piece felled and burned on whioh it is rumoured he intends erecting a homestead, and Mr Davies also has a site within a few chains of the station where he anticipates building his future home. Several settlers have driven sheep down the County road from Palmerston to Kereru and last week the first flock was taken through from Otaki. . Yesterday two thousand arrived at Mr Potts' place having left Palmerston on Saturday morning— the journey thus taking three days The roads are all dry and grass is very plentiful everywhere.
