Mil MUTCHIXSON AND THE GOVERNMENT, The Native Minister said lie hail intended to move for the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire into a report on cha'ges made against Ministers by Mr Hutehinion in hit speech of Wednesday last. The proof of the speech, however, had not been available in time, though he had to thank the hon member for his courtesy in supplying it. On the following day he should make the motion without notice, if the Home would allow it. Mr Sedclon intimated that he Hhoulil oppose it, on the ground that eommrttees boin{{ set up in the middle of a debate to inquire into what has been said by speakers might result in intimidation. KETKENCHMENT. Mr Guinnesi asked the Government without nofice whether the report in the New Zealand Timed of that morning, to the effect t at the Government had agreed to a proposal mp.de by a certain section of members to reduce the Estimates by £50,---000. wag true ? The Government refused to reply wanting notice to be given of the question, and the time of the House was taken till the close to the 5 o'clock adjournment with debuting whether the Government should not reply. On a division the motion for adjournment was lost. The dehato on Supply occupied the rest of the evening.
