FIRE AT PAIAKA.

Last Friday morning the woolshed at Paiaka, the property of Mr It.. Gardner was destroyed by fire.- The origin of the fire is unknown, nd the building was uninsured. The loft, where the fire originated, was filled with oaten sheaves and hay, valued at about £60. Everything but a dozen bales of tow was saved from the ground floor, all the hands working with a will, the fire raging too quickly to prevent them being got out in time. The shed was a very old one, but the different uses it 'was made of, makes it. a difficult matter to replace. The old landingstage from the shed to the river was alse partly destroyed. We believe it will aiean a loss to Mr Gardner of something like £300 or £400.
