ELECTION.

: • Yesterday was the day appointed by the Returning Officer for the nominations of candidates for the office of Councillors for the Awahou Riding. At noon Mr Cox attended at the Courthouse, Foxton and opened the papers received. The proceedings were not marked by any excitement, as there were only the two candidates, one supporter and the reporter present. Mr Cox then read the nominations received. Francis Robinson was proposed by James H. Robinson and seconded by John Carter and' Thomas Mitchell was proposed by John Walden and seconded by John Carter. These being the only candidates the Returning officer declared that they were duly elected. The orowd then dispersed.
