Foxton Borough Council.

The usual monthly meeting of the ' Eiof'otfgh Council was held at the Library buildings on Monday Bth April at 2 p.m. Present—The Mayoi in the' chair, Councillors T. XT. <"ook, F. Jenks, Or. Nye, J. R. McMillan and T. P. Williams.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmedInward and outward correspondence was read.

The following resolutions were passed. That the action of the Mayor in paying £100 cash on the 8 March to he Manawatu County Council in place of the £100 part bills and cash a» authorised by the f oxton Borough m the 4th March be endorsed by thin Council.

That the earn of £131 17s 2d bepaid to the Manawatu County Council, with interest added, and that the balance of £100 be paid in three months.

That the sum of 12s 6d, charitable aid, be pail for John Boyd. That the Town Clerk write to the Wanganui Hospital Board and inquire upon what terms patients can be admitted from this Borough. That Mr C. Spring be assistant sexton to Mr Jonson during the ntfxt six months. That tho chairman for public works committee be authorised to arrange with the pr perty owners to put culverts in the drains as requested by Messrs Pureell and Macpherson. That the Borough Banking account be removed to the Bank of ustralasia. That John Guerin be authorised to clean the drain leading from his lower boundary to the river, at a cost not exceeding £5 ; work to be passed by the chairman of the publio works committee. That the Mayor be requested tc communicate with the Railway Commissioners, re the establishment of a similar train service to the one in force previous to the last alterations;. 1 That the Mayor represent to the Honorable the Minister of Marine that the staff at the pilot station is totally inadequate to carry out the duties of the position, and to request that the staff may be increased i>y at (east one permanent assistant. That I the following notioe be placed on all bridges within the Borough, That the public be notified that these bridges are consiered unsafe for any greater weight passing over it than 25cwt. Persons carrying a greater weight do so at their own risk and cost.

That an additional lamp; post be erected in Main Street at an equal distance between Mr Gray's and Mrs Burr's corner, Mr Hunter having agreed to pay half the cost of the same.

That G. Trask be employed for two months at 7s a day to put the Moutoa and Wirokino roads in a state of repair before the winter sets in. ■ ■ .

That the pound keeper and ranger be requested to send in their quarterly report forthwith. ' That the Clerk write to Mr Hunter and request that he take immediate steps to stop the sand from blowing on to Main Street and to inform him that Unless he takes this work on hand at once this Counci' must do so anil charge the cost to him.
