WIROKING ROAD BOARD.
The above Board met on Saturdaylast. Present — Messrs J. Davies (Chairman), J. Kebbell, F. Andrews, J. M'Donald, ai d I<l. Gascoigne. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. OrWAt'D CORRESPONDENCE. From Treasury, advising the payment of £1000 to the Board's Bank account. > J. Sperrey, that Native rates fop' 1888-89 can be passed for payment. J. Merchant, thai deviations of Muhunoa road were gazetted in May last. • ■ J Treasury, that the sum of £1500, : on account of first year's loan of! £:JOOO, had been paid to Bank ac- j count. - I Treasurer, advising payment of j £296 14s to Bank account for rates on Native lands 1888-89. The Engineer's report was read. OUTWARD CORRESPONDENCE. N. J. Botting, extension of time applied for. Left to Engineer toarrange. J. 0. Gavin, application for third instalment of loan. This has been I paid. J. A. Nathan, advising acceptance of tender. Direction to sigu and send to Board. J. A. Nathan, -stating that as he hid not appeared or signed the oontractit had heen let to J. Brean. RESoWriCNO PASSED. That the action of the committee appointed to receive tenders for the Toi*omaru and Albert roads, in accepting the ,tenders of J. Breen for £51 "us 6d, and Drayten and M.&dsen for £144 3s be agreed to. That the Engineer be instructed to meet Warden Kebbell and the rate payers on the 20th April next at Ohau, to Qonault for the expenditure of the £350 allocated to the Muhunoa fast road. Thatthfl tender of G. D. Partridge for the Kaihinu road No 1 contract be accepted.. • That the tender of F. Leary's be accepted for Buckley's road for the sum of £ — That that the tender of F. Leary be accepted for No 2, Kaihinu road for the sum of £— That the engineer get done what is necessary to be done to the Kereru road drain. That tenders be called for the metalling of 30 chains of the Shannon road, tenders to be in by Thursday, 25th April, at Shannon, and that Wardens Gascoigne and Andrews be a committee to receive and ac " ept the same. Not to exceed £40 . That a culvert and side drain be put in the Horowhenua road, ns recommmended by the Engineer, and to re-form and metal the swamp porti >n of it. That the annual meeting of the Board be held on Saturday, 4th May, and that Mr McCulloch be appointed Returning Officer for the forthing election of Wardens.
