LONDON FLAX MARRET.

Messrs F. W.Williams and Kettle, of Napier, have received tlie following report from their London correspondent with reference to New Zealand hemp : — Eef erring to our last report of the 2nd of November, our New Zealand flax market, though quieter, is yet very firm and the higher prices now demanded for the small supplies now on offer have rather checked sales. Since my last circular the supplies of I fresh parcels comprise in all about 1050 bales, per Taimii, Mercia, Kai-

koura, and Bayley, of wHeb thegreater part has changed hands at very full price", and our market today closes firm at the following: prices: — £31 to £32for good to good and fine, £30 to £31 iov middlingto good, £29 10s to £30 lor common to middling, £27 10s to £28 10s for ordinary to common. A feature I during the past fortnight has been the sale of 180 bales of New Zealand flax tow, from Auckland, at £10 10s to £10 15s, the quality of which being softer and better cleaned than most tow hitherto sent to this market commanded a ready sale. A small lot of toppets, or short hemp (laid up into heads) has also to be noted at £16 to £16 10s. Our other fibre markets affecting the value of New Zealand (Manilla, Sisal, and Mauritnia) remain firm.
