FROZEN MEAT.

We are in receipt of a circular ; from " the Wellington Meat Export Company Limited" in which they state that they have arranged for frozen meat freight for the nextthree years, at tlje following rates ; — Shipments equally divided between Summer and Winter, l^perlb; Summer shipments only, l£d per lb. Beef will be $d less, and Lamb $d more. Summer months are December to May, inclusive; winter months are June to November, inclusiveShippers during the Summer will in all cases be charged at l£d> but they will have the option of shipping an equal quantity during the winter months at Id, making the average I£, with the advantage of not being compelled to ship in wi-iter should it not suit them to do so. The Shipping Companies will carry all the output from this Company's present works, subject to reasonable notice of the requirements of shippers. As, however, time will not permit of extra tonnage being provided for the present summer, the Steamship Companies do not undertake to carry more than the present capacity of their fleets until next season. It is expected, however, that space will be provided for all that can be frozen at these works during the present summer ; but as it is found that the quantity of beef which can be frozen during the hot weather is much less than was expected, the freezing engagements for beef have necessarily been curtailed, and some of the last received applications have had to be shut out. For the year commencing June Ist next, applications will be invited in a future circular, < which will also contain particulars of revised freezing charges. With regard to the scheme proposed by a syndicate in England, to guarantee a minimum price to Shippers, the full particulars have not yet come to ' hand; but should they be such as, my Directors can recommend to Shippers generally, they will be forwarded in due course.
