PUREBRED SHORTHORNS FOR MANAWATU.

It is gratifying to notice the enterprise Mr Larkworthy v displaying in improving his herd. During the past year several valuable animals arrived from England, and are now " quartered " at either the Carnarvon or Moutoa estates, both of which a c a few miles from Foxton, and belong to Mr Larkworthy. From the Evening Post we quote the following as U» a fnrtber im* pnrtation of shorthorns Mr Larkworthy has just made :— '• Two splendid shorthorn bulls have just arrived from England in tbe shio Hurunui, having been imported into this colony by Mr F. B. Lurk worthy, of the Carnarvon Estate, Sandnn, Manawatu. The hnila are respectively named (Jmbelini an i Mtrqnis, ana both possess remarkably pwliitrees. The fmmer was calved in r, 1979, writ)* latWxia January, IWO,

their sire being Grand Duke. Tfaey appear to have been well cared for on the voyage, and are apparently in capital condition. They form a valuable addition to the purebred shorthorn stock now in the colony. " Referring to the same subject the N.Z. Times sajs :— S »me very valuable live stock arrived by the ship Hurunui. Two young shorthorn bulls of rare symmetry, and showing every sign of high- ' breeding, were generally admired when they were landed yesterday afternoon. They are in excellent condition, aad show no sign of having been on a long voyage. They are the property of Mr Lark worthy, stud are intended for his Carnarvon Estate en which he has already collected one of the best shorthorn herds in the colony.
