THE BAINESSE CASE.
■ »■ . . ■ ... On Wednesday last, at the Wellington R. M. Court, before G. B. Davey, Esq , It. M., Christopher Simpson aad John M'Leunan were charged by summons dn the information of Henry Mace, with having on or about che 23rd July last, conspired together to defraud the said Henry Mace oi the sum of £3000, by the said Christopher Simpson delivering to John M'Lennm 107 head of cattle on payment of the sum of £lCoo,the oattle being worth £4000. Mr W. T. L. Travers appeared for the propeeu'ion ; Mr Buckley for Mr M'Lennan, and Mr Gordon Allan for Mr Simpson . Mr Travels, in a lengthy speech, opened the case for the prosecution, and culled Mr Mace, who detailed the arrangements between himself and Mr Simpson. After a short examination of Mr Mace, .Mr John Reid was placed in the box by Mr Travers, also Mr J. F. Kockstrow, but so far as we can judge the evidence, Mr Travers failed' to draw from them anything in support of the charge. Mr Mace was then.- recalled; and examined at considerable length, after which the case was adjourned until' Tuesday next/, i '■
