Tb Awamutu, Thusrday. • "William Fraser, sergeant-major of the Armed Constabulary, an old Balaklava veteran, and one of the finest cavalry drill instructors in the colo* nies, shot himself through the heart last night while under the influence ot drink. He leaves a wife and family. The inquest is to be held today. Auckland, Friday. Further telegrams relative to the suicide of Sergeant-Major Fraser have come to the constabulary. They etate he shot himself through the left breast with a revolver, the ball passing through the body and lodging in the wall behind. tJe had pre« viously attempted to take the life of his wife, but she escaped. His daughter witnessed the fatal deed. Death wus instantaneous. It is supposed that he was temporarily deranged. It is rumored that he was heir to a baronetcy. INAPIBB, Thursday. Samuel Begg, formerly a merchant died this morning. He will be buried with Masonic honours.
