MANCHESTER HIGHWAYS BOARD
A Meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, Bth March, 1879. Wardens present — Messrs Halcombe(in the Chair), Macarthur, Bailey and Bartholomew. Letter received from Mr Beattie, asking the Board to make two chains of road past his place, and that he is willing to do the formation if the Board will gravel the same. ■ ■ •
Resolved—" That the Secretary be instructed to write to Mr Beattie, and inform him that his request has been granted, and that the Board agree to metal- two chains on the completion of the formation under the supervision of the Engineer." Letter from Roots and others requesting the Board to metal suburban road.
Eesolved— "That the Secretary be instructed to inform Mr Boots and others, that tenders will be called for the requested work." .
Resolved— « That all defaulting ratepayers be immediately summoned, in order that the rates may all be collected by the 31st March, in order that the full pubsidy may be received from the GqvernjnenVf : Kesolved— " That the Clerk be instructed to notify, on or before the 22n-l March, that a rate of one shilling in the pound on the rateable value of property in the Manchester Highway District, will be made for the year ending 31st March, 1880, to be payable on the 7th April, 1879, and that the rate book will be open for inspection at the Manchester Highway Board Office, Feilding." Resolved — " That the Chairman and one other member of the Board be authorised to accept tho tenders for suborban road." Various accounts were passed.
