WEDDING

SM1TH - WALKER A wedding solemnised recently was that of Tire Ena, eldest daughter of Mrs I. Walker and the late Mr Walker, of Canvastown, and Manu, son of Mrs Smith and the late Mr J. Snlith, of Palmerston North. The ceremony, held at the Debating Hall, was performed by Mr Peter Harley, a minister of the Watch Tower Society. .The bride, presenting a charming. picture as she entered thc church on the arm of her uncle, Mr Len Walker, wore a full length gown of white marocain satin and an embroidered net veil and she carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. In attendance were Noeline Cootes, as chief bridesmaid, and Wainui and Teresa Mason, each wearing an angle-length frock of light green georgette, and carrying a bunch of red carnations. The groom was attended by Mr Peter Walker as best man, and Messrs L. and E. Mason as groomsmen. A reception was held later at the Victoria Hall where Mrs Walker received the guests. She was wearing green linen, with brown accessories, and she was assisted by Mrs Smith, wearing a black outfit. The hall was decorated with blue, green, and yellow streamers, below which the neatly arranged tables bore a spread of attractive fare. The main course was served hot from a hangi, the ancient native style of cooking, which imparted a delectable flavour. Guests present from Nelson, Palmerston North, and the Sounds, formed a happy blend of Maori and European.
