CHRISTMAS LEAVE
BUT NO "FRENCH LEAVE." WARNING TO EMPLOYEES. SYDNEY, Oct. 22. The Deputy-Director-General of Manpower, Mr Bellemore, stated in Sydney that his attention had been drawn to a reported determination by the employees of two big industries to take annual leave in between Christmas and New Year. The Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, had said that work and business should continue except for public holidays on December 25, 26 and 28. Tlie action of the employees would be a defiance of the National Security (holidays and annual leave) regulations, said Mr Bellemore, and employees who ignored them would leave themselves open to heavy penalties.
