C.B.A. GRATIFIED
RESULT OF APPEAL FOR FUNDS. GROSS TOTAL EXCEEDS £1000. Gratification at the result of the recent bazaar and appeal for fiinds by the C.B.A. was expressed at the mcfnthly meeting of the association last evening, when a tentative fina-n ( cial statement reveaied tliat the gross proceeds ainounted to over £1000, in- j cluding £222 in cash donations. | Bazaar accounts for £110 were passed for paynient. | The president, Mr E. F. Healy, de- | clared that the results were remarkaole and far exceeded expectations. It had been more than gratifying to hihi as president to have had such an overwhelming demonstration of the pubiic's appreciation of the asso- . ciation's work. Mr Healy referred to the assistance so reaaily given by a host of helpers and suppbrters in all directions, and moved that the association place on record its appreciation and gratitude. It was impossible to thank everyone individually, but the association was truly gratel'ul to all who had helped in any way at all to ensure the success of the annual appeal. The vice-president (Mr S. I. Vercoe), in seeonding the motion, congratulated the president upon establishing such a.remarkable record, and referred to the support accorded the association as clear proof of the pubiic's recognition of the association's v. ork. Much of the success of the bazaar had been due to the support accorded by the men of the Forces, who had not been slow to appreciate the work of the C.B.A. Mr W. W. Tyler referred to the very happy co-operation amongst all helpers which had characterised the bazaar, and Mr R, V. Bythell spoke along similar lines. The motion was carried unanir.iousiy. The secretary (Mr B. J. C'ooke) said that the lady helpers had expressed a wish to have a permanent committee forrned so that they could help the association all through the yeai' and be together to prepare well aliead for the annual toazaars. It was deeided that a meeting of ladies be held to form a C.B.A. women's auxiliary, the idea of a permanent cornmittee being warmly commended. It v/as reported by the treasurer (Mr J. N. Calcraft) that the collection boxes at the aviaries contained £3 9s 5d for the past four-weekly period. It was deeided to engage a man to cut the watergrass that has accumulated in the river below the Alfred street bridge. Fresent at the meeting were Messrs E. F. Healy (president), J. N. Calcraft, W. Jellyrnan, S. I. Vercoe, R. V. Bythell, R. B. D. Walker, R. Walker, H. Hodson, W. W. Tylor, and B. J. Cooke. Messrs E, T. Tomlinson and W. G. Cresswell were granted leave of absence, vr
