BLENHEIM THEFT
SOLDIER WITH A "LIST." SENTENCE OF THREE IVIONTHS. In the Christchurch Magistrate's Court George Maurice Meikle, soldier, aged 20, was sentenced to three rnonths' inrprisonment with. hard labour on a eharge of having stolen £24, the property of Edward Lister Pryor, at Blenheim, on October 20. Restitution was ordered. Senior-Detective H. Nuttall said that Meikle had happened to be in the complainant's shop and had seen where some takings were placed. He had returned later, found the back d.oor open, and taken £24. He arrived in Christchurch on Tuesday night, and, interviewed by a detective, denied taking the money, which, however, was found in his suitcase. Meikle had been before the Court on ten occasions before, and v/as at present on licence from a Borstal institution.
