MUSIC SOCIETY.

INSTRIJMENTAL GROUP MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Instrumental Group of the Blenheim branch of the British Music Society, held at the home of Mrs G. Moffat, the programme consisted of music from Beethoven and Brahms. There was a good nttendance of members, and the leader, Mrs A C. Wiiiiams, vvelcomed four visitors. The programme opened with an interesting paper on the Jife and work of Brahms, prepared and read by Miss E. Archdall, after which the following Brahms items were rendered: Pianoforte solos : "Ballad in G Minor," Miss G. Smit-h; "Hungarian Dance No. 7," Miss M. Coker; "Rhapsodie in E Flat," Mrs H. Mills: "Waltz in A Major," Miss J. Stewart; • "Inte'rmezzo in G," Mrs A. C. Wiiiiams. Piano duet, "Hungarian Dance No. 3,'' Misses P. WiMnson and S. Hart. violm solo, ''Hungarian Dance Nc. it," Mrs Miigrew. The Eeethc.ven items, all piano solos, were as fol- [ lows: "Rondo in C Major," Mrs G. Moffat; First movement from Op. 27, No. 1. Master J. Wiiiiams; "Country Dance in C Major," Miss S. Hart; "Presto," "Minuet" and "Trio" from Op. 60, No. 3, Miss P. Wilkinson. At the ccnclusion of this progiamme some ci.'scussicn took place regarding the forthcoming B.M.S. concert, after which supper wasserved.
