Mrs W. Scannall, of Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs E. Orchard, The Waterfalls, Seddon. Miss P. Furness has returned from a holiday spent at St. Omer, Kenepuru Sound. Mrs E. W. Hanrahan has returned to Blenheim after visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs J. M. Annett, Airies station, Fairlie. Mrs C. Workman is visiting Waitata Bay, Pelorus Sound. Miss Lorna Wallace is visiting Mrs F. Campbell at Lyall Bay, Wellington. Mrs M. A. Townsend is visiting friends in Wellington. Mrs A. M. Wadsworth, of Pine Valley, has returned from a holiday in Nelson. She visited relatives at Motupiko, Tapawera, Stanley Brook, Thorpe, and Wakefield.

I Mrs D. A. Perry, who with tasman daughter has been staying with Mrs W. D. A. Chisholm, has returned to Khandallah. Mrs Knight, of Christchurch, is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs W. P. A. Knight, Percy street. Mrs W. P. A. Knight and her daughter June have returned from Christchurch, where June succeeded in passing her fourth dancing examination, conducted by Miss Kathleen Danetree, of the Royal Academy of Dancing, London. Flying OfHcer and Mrs Ralph Karsten, before leaving on transfer to the North Island, were the guests of honour at a dinner party given by Mr and Mrs L. Eowser at their home in Arthur street, and afterwards a supper party at the home of Captain and Mrs P. A. Miles, Wairau Bar. Those present were Captain and Mrs Miles, Flying Officers G. M. Bertram and K. MacDonald. Pilot Officers B. Hoskens and E. Moffatt, Mr and Mrs Bowser, Captain T. Eckford, Mrs M. Dance (Auckland) and Sergeant L. Allen. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced between Maretta Jean, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. H. McMahaway, Picton, and Andrew Alfred, eldest son of Mr and Mrs R. R. Pope, We.st Haven.
