A BUSY HOSPITAL
SURGERY WORK HEAVY. REPORT TO HOSPITAL BOARD. Its Acting Medical Superintendent (Dr C. G. Bigham) reported to the Hospital Board yesterday that the hospital continued to be extremeiy busy, having an average of about 120 cccupied beds — the highest number being 131. There were at present 126 cccupied beds. The former Old People's Home emergency hospital was in constant use and had 15 patients at present. The Marlborough College Miiitary Hospital had not been so busy, there having been 137 admissions for the month and 17 remained at present. Surgery work continued to be heavy. Operations for September had approximated 70 and since the end of the month operations had been even higher than usual. The X-ray is also very busy. The health of the staff had been excelient, with only occasional cases of minor ailments and injuries. » Those present at the meeting were Messrs A. J. H. Gavin (chairman) and C. E. Townshend, C. F. A. Whiteford, A. F. Bent, T. Morrin, J. Randall, T. C. Prichard, J. R. Buncombe, C. Nees and W. Kennington. V
