WAIRAU v. WESLEY.
Quite a keen interesting match was played between these two teams at Horton park, and the result was in doubt right up to the final whistle. From the bully-off the pace set was fast, and both teams got right down to solid play. The ball was kept on the move, and it was only a few moments before first one circle and then the other was b'eing invaded. The defence lines were kept busy clearing. Eventually. Wesley opened the score, and a few minutes later they found the net again. Play continued to be fast, and there were some nice movements by both for ward lines. Wairau were pressing, and for a while held the upper hand, getting three goals up and obtaining the lead. From then on as one team scored the other would do likewise and even up. However, Wesley gained a goal advantage and managed to keep Wairau out until the final whistle blew, the scores being Wesley 6, Wairau 5. The goals were obtained by the: following: For Wesley, Auty (2), W. Stockwell (2) . Doggett (1), Wareham (1). For, Wairau, Perrett (2), Farmar (2), Gee (1). Messrs H. Robson and E. Cairns umpired.
