WOMAN'S OWN FAULT

AUCKLAND, Feb. 7. •Charles John Mahon was charged at ijh.fi' Police Court with attempted suicide, and with an assault on his wife at Otahuhu.
The evidence showed that the wife's injuries consisted of two small scalp wounds.
When .shown the heavy tomahawk which Mahon said he had used the doctor said that Mahon must have been very careful to have used that weapon and caused wounds so trifling. :■..■■•..
Th« Magistrate concluded that the trouble was largely of the wife's own making, and accused, on promising Hood behavior, was convicted and ordered to find sureties of £300 to keep the peace, and to pay the costs.
