The General Manager of the Pacific Cable Company returns to Melbourne on the 4th inst. to confer with the Federal Postmaster-General on the question of rates on the New Zealand section of the cable. At present the Federal Government has no intention of cutting rates against the Eastern Extension Company, and senders will be allowed the choice of the route of
messages.
