LOCAL PRODUCTIVE INDUSTRY.
To the Editor of the Marlborough Express. Sib, —I hoped that my letter on the subject of the manufacture of woollen fabrics, which you published in a recent number, would have elicited comments from those amongst us who are more practically acquainted with the subject than myself. Perhaps the subject of flax-dressing will be more readily entertained. It has been attended with marked success elsewhere, and I can see no reason why, on a proportionate scale it may not bo adopted here. I earnestly hope that any attempt to utilise our resources, which may present a reasonable hope of success, will receive the careful inspection, and zealous support of all those who can furnish the means of carrying it out. On one point I affirm my conviction, that the spot indicated in my former letter affords sufficient water-power for many processes. I am, &c., W. Bwno*.
