Acceptances for the Marlborough Cup, and nominations for the Racing Club Handicap and Flying Stakes, must be in the hands of the Secretary of the Racing Club by S p.m., on Wednesday next, December 15th. Titania had a foal last week, notwithstanding which it is probable she will run this season. The programme has been issued for the Kaikoura Race Meeting, and to say the least it has the recommendation of being uncommon. Fixed weights are appended to eacli event, thus : Shearer’s Purse, lOst; Kaikoura Stakes, list; Hurdle Race, 12st; Maiden Plate, 9st. Mr Wayland is the Secretary. Mr Hately has declined the offer of the position of handiCapper to the Hawke’s Bay Racing Club, and a Committee has been appointed to manipulate the weights instead. A good deal of surprise has been created at the very small number of nominations for the Rangitikei races, the prizes offered being very fair. For the Marton-Rangitikei Handicap of 200 sovs there arc only 9 nominations, 14 for the Railway Handdicap of 100 sovs and 12 for the Flying Stakes of 100 sovs. The following are the weights :—Marton —Rangitikei Handicap : Hailstorm, 9st 41b ; Soukar, Bst 1011), Opawa, Sst Sib ; Redeemer, Bst 31b, Otawa, 7st 1211); Rocket, 7st Sib ; Moanatairi, 7st 41b ; My Dream, Gst 101 b ; Marie Stuart, Gst 711) ; Camelia (Scott’s), Gst Gib.—Railway Handicap : Hailstorm, 9st 411); Soukar, Sst 121 b ; Opawa, Sst Sib ; Redeemer, Sst 41b ; Otawa, 7st 1211); Rocket, 7st 91b ; Astronomer, 7st 411); My Dream, Gst 131 b ; Marie Stuart, Gst 811); Wilberforce, Gst 51b ; Steve Hart, Gst slb ; Camelia ( Scott’s ), Gst 41b : Flying Stakes.—Soukar, Gst 31b ; Opawa. Le Loup is the favorite in the betting for the Dunedin Cup, the odds being 100 to 15. Messrs Vallanec, Ray, and H. Prince have returned to Dunedin, Mata being still in Victoria. It is said that Mr. Vallance has sold his interest to Mr H. Prince, the well-known bookmaker.

The following are the handicaps for the Heathcote Cup of 100 sovs Natator, 9st; Volunteer, Sst 121 b; Betrayer, Sst 111 b; Marie Antoinette, Sst 41b ; Libeller, Sst 31b; Randwick, 7st 131 b; Virginia Water, 7st 111 b ; Luna, 7st Sib ; Lure, 7st Gib; Starlight, 7st; Clarence, Gst 31b; Romeo, Gst; Levant, ost 1 11). Acceptances elose on the 13th. At a meeting of the Committee of the Victoria Racing Club, held on the 19th ultimo, it was decided not to interefere with the decision of the Stewards re. Mata’s disqualification. It will be remembered that Hanlan made it one of the conditions of consenting to the match with Layeoek that the stakes should be £IOOO, instead of the usual £2OO, a condition which was generally thought impossible for Laycock to fulfil, and that soon after news was received stating the stakes had been fixed at £SOO each for the sculling championship of the world. It has now transpired that the American Hop Bitters Company are contributing £IOOO towards the stakes, so as to remove any obstacle in the way of the match. BOXING DAY HORSE RACES.— WEIGHTS.
