CRICKET.
PICTON V, SPRING CREEK,
This match came off yesterday at Spring Creek, and the grand weather conduced very much to the pleasure of the game. Mr John T. Robinson captained the Spring Creek team, and kept wicket in. his old form. Mr. F. Buokland, who officiated for Picton, was in far better condition than in previous matches this year. The principal features of the game were Ryan’s all round play, the coming out of Sheppard (a formidable addition to any team), two catches by Gregg and Walker, and MoNab’s miserable attempt at lielding. Messrs Swanwiok and C. Budge acted as umpires, and Messrs Dickens and Hawk as scorers. Subjoined is the score : PICTON. Ist Innings. 2’iil Innings. Neal, K., li ltynu .. Redwood and Redwood Bros, were received with three times three, they having assisted the Spring Creek Club by the free gift of a site for playing, and labour. During the day Mr Walker, of Picton, received an answer to his challenge on behalf of the Wanderers, and we understand the match is now likely to come off. The Picton men left by train at 7..‘10 p.m., and everybody returned home, thoroughly pleased witli the day’s cricket. Great credit is due to Mr Dickens, Secretary to the Spring Creek Cricket Club, for his able management, and we hope that there may be many such days at Spring Creek.
