CRICKET.

BLENHEIM V. PICTON. Tins match, which created a considerable amount of interest, was played in Fairhall’s paddock on Tuesday last, and contributed much to the success of the day’s entertainment, a large number of spectators being attracted to the scene. The day was

admirably adapted for a cricket mate'll, mid the ground was in fairly good order. '1 lie Blenheim men proved the victors. As regards the play the general opinion is that the bowling of Treweek for Blenheim was far superior to anything previously seen in the district, and next to him comes Palcthorpe of Picton. A most friendly game was played, and nothing occurred to mar the good feeling that is usual at ericket matches. The umpires, Mr, (i. S. Budge for Blenheim, and -Mr. Hawk for Picton, gave every satisfaction. The bowling proved too good for both batting and lidding. This may be accounted for by the wretched ground our players have to practice on, and we hope the public will come forward and assist in altering this for the future. The following are the scores:—
