THE FRIENDLY SOCIETIES’ FETE. CHAMPION PRIZE AWARDED TO MURPHY. The friendly rivals for the champion prize at the recent sports did so well that it seems a pity both could not have the cup. We are informed by a member of the Committee that the points in dispute were carefully gone into and the award made as follows, dCpoints being given for Ist place, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd— Murphy, winner of the Cup. Event No". 3—3rd place 1 point 4—l st 3 (! —2nd 2 10—2nd 2 12—1st 3 Total ... ... 11 points Wyatt. Event No. 3—lst place 3 points fi—lst .1 7—3rd 1 !)—lst 3 12—tie for 3rd h Total ... ... 101 points Murphy therefore wins the cup.
