CORRESPONDENCE.
A QUERY.
To the Editor. Sir., —Can you tell me when the new translation of the Bible will come from America ? When I was in the Old Country, and went to the Sunday School, I used to save my pennies to put in the missionary box to send to missionaries many thousand miles over the sea, to preach to the heathen. I think here the mistake is—Don't you think it should be savages as well as heathens, because the scriptures say—“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” I wonder if any of those great and very religious bodies in your town think the Wairau Valley is included in that portion of scripture, “ all the world ?” May be they are on the heathen tack, and send missionaries thousands of miles away, and don’t take in the Wairau Savages; or surely during many years we should sec some of those good Christions come amongst us ; or do they think “all the world ” means from Havelock to Spring Creek ? I can’t think so, and that is why I want to see the new translation, to know for certain if we arc shut out. Tell me in your next paper what you think about it; or, had I better strike religion out, and say there is none, as many of my neighbors are apt to say when they talk about it to me. —I am, etc., Ploughman 1 . Wairau Valley, Oct. 29, ISBO.
