WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.
Wednesday, OcToimr. Cm, The Board met at two o'clock at the Seerctary’n office. Present—Messrs Ward (in the chair), (loiiltcr and Avery. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. INSPECTOR'S Jll'.I’ORT. The Inspector repotted that the Wailiopai road required an expenditure of about L 35, before the wool hauling season commences, from Benopai and .Mr Luxford’s. The Avon road also requires repairing from Leeficld to the Avon Saddle. T. Neville has commenced his contract for forming two miles of the V aihopai rotid but is getting on very slowly with the work, and the Inspector fears it will not be finished before dry weather sets in. Angus Met'oil has finished his contract for metalling 2:11, chains of the Dog Point road at 22s (id per chain. J. Higgins has not completed his contract for forming parts of Dog Point road. Channing and Curnow have about another day’s work to finish their contract for erecting a footbridge over Godfreys creek, Ilenwick New Hoad, for 1,35. 11. O’Leary has nearly completed his contract for metalling ten chains of the cross road between sections 34 and 3(5, Oinaka, for Llo. B. Beale has finished his contract for forming and metalling 13 chains of Murphy’s cross road South at lSs per chain. The Secretary was instructed to inform contractors that penalties will be enforced for non-completion of contracts. FABIAN'S VALEEV. It was resolved that Mr Barker be offered the sum of L3(5 as compensation for the projected line of road through his property at Fabian’s Valley and that an agreement be entcied into with the owners and occupiers of land in that locality requesting them to give up to the Board the land required for the formation of a road. WAIHOI'AI. ft was resolved to expend L‘ls for repairs to ths Waihopni road from Snmmerlands 1o Stronvar. l/EKI'IELO. It was resolved to call for tenders for the road from Leeficld to the Avon Saddle. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Ti.uns L 7 lit fid, It. Beale Lll 14s, Channing and CurnowL3s, Angus McColl LlOf> 3s fid, H. C. O'Leary Liu, Crook and Henderson LI Bs, K. The following tenders were opened for forming Wailiopai road :— Clianning LI s)s (id per chain ; .7. S. Maddock, LI do ; Higgins Ll do, time, two months ; ,1. Main 18s do, time, end of November: Paul and T’aacoe 15s fid, time, six weeks, (accepted.) VACANCY". The Secretary was requested to refer to the minutes to find the date at which Mr Williams last attended a meeting, and this being done it appeared that lie had not attended for six months past. A reference to the Act showed that absence for that time disqualified a member, rendering his seat tjixo/uc/o vacant. The Board then adjourned.
