AWATERE ROAD BOARD.
Wednesday, October Gth. Tiie Board met at half-past 10 o’clock at the Secretary’s office. Present—Messrs Mcßae (in the chair), Chaytor, Monro, Green, Mowatt, and Stace. The minutes of the preiious meeting were read and confirmed, TENDERS, The following tenders were laid before the Board for keeping the road in repair from Blenheim to the Shearing Reserve ■ A. Dillon L 350, D. Stevens L 320, J. Clianning L2SS, T. Maddock L2SO, McMaster L 270, T. Titbit L2GB, H. Ellis L24.L For forming 00 chains of cutting at the Uro : F. Costello 42s per chain ; T. S. Maddock 30s do. The lowest tender was accepted in each case. inspector’s report. The Inspector of Works reported that he had examined the road from Castle Creek to the boundary of the Awaterc Road district and found the works already done in good condition, ami that the expenditure of about Ll5O will make this a firstratc summer road. The Grey bridle track is in a bad state, and it will take about L3O to repair it. The-bridle track from the Reserve to the Gladstone also requires the expenditure upon it of a similar amount. Two men have been employed in forming about eight chains and cutting side drains, &i\, near Star Hill, on the main South road. Three men have been engaged in making a bridle track over the Hawk llilla and are now pushing on with repairs between Flaxbourne and the Ure. McMaster and party have finished opening up the mad"from Tar Barrel Hill towards Flaxbourne, and it is expected that the work will be finished by the end of the month. Tenders have been invited for forming (50 chains of side cutting near the Ure and Tar Barrel Hill and for keeping the road through the Taylor Pass to the Awaterc Shearing Reserve in repair. It was resolved to call for tenders for the following works :—For making about a mile of road, joining the road from the Grey to Upcot with the Long Valley, or for the whole length from the same point to the Limestone. For forming a road from Castle Creek to the boundary of the Awatere Road district. For repairing the bridge near the Freshwater Lagoon. The Inspector was instructed to have the Grey and Awatere bridle track repaired and to get the tussocks cut on the Renwick road. The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Ward (surveyor), informing him that his services will not be further required. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment A. Ward (surveyor) L 37, E. Hickey L 4 13s 4d, G. Eyes L 5, Times L 9 5s Oil, 11. Chalmers L2 Gs Sd, Taylor, Bros. L2l 18s 3d, H. C. O’Leary L2 3s Gd, E. Maddock LSO 4s 2d. Ditto L 45 3s 4il.
