KAIKOURA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Kaikonra Road Board was held on Monday, the 20th Sept. Present—Messrs Dickenson (Chair), Doddemeade, Close, and Aldridge. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letters were read from Mr Sam McNab, re W. H. Lovell, and from the Kaikonra

The following tenders were receded tor cutting a ditch on the Red Swamp Koai :- Orchard and Co. Ins per chain, time four weeks ; C. Clemett, 13tlo. do., 4 weeks , J. Boyd. lls 9.1 do. do. 4 do. ; l. N orkuwn, 9s El do. do. 4 do. (accented). Ami foi filling ditches near Clemett s :—C. GRnwtt, £IBO for main work and 4s per load stones, 12 weeks ; J. Mclnins, Llbl “O. 4s do, 13 do. ; J. Boyd, L9o do. do., -*> do, 13 do. ; M. Connor, LSti do. do., 2s .Id do., S do.; tV. Workman, LSS do. do., sOd do., 7 do. (accepted). It was resolved that Mr Lovell s application be postponed until next meeting. That notices be posted on all the black hoards to the effect that the provisions of the 97th clause, section 2, ot the lublic Works Act will be strictly enforced upon all the roads. The following resolutions were also passThat the Board cannot entertain Mr G. Gibson’s application for a refund of poundtecs. • t That 'tenders be invited for dealing Ingrain’s ditch, metalling the road towards Mount Fy fie station, and for forming Ronson’s road. , ~ , , , That the Board pay half the cost of making a ford across the ditch adjoining ■ i Keenan’s property, the Board considering this an exceptional case. That the Inspector have the road towards Mount Fyffcstationditchcd. That the Treasurer he authorised to ma ke the following payments : —Dickenson LI 10s, Norton IGs,' Henderson LlO 8s M, Curtain LG Sd, Secretary L 7 10s, I. I‘luit L 77, M. Harnett L2 Ss, Torca lGs, J. Boyd L2, Inspector Lll 13s 4d, contingencies LI 2s 2d. ~ This concluded the business. The next meeting of the Board will he held on Monday the 18th October.
