RESIDENT MAGISTRATES’ COURT HAVELOCK.
Thursday, Sept. 23. [Before W. E. Dive, Esq., J.R.] Drunkenness. — William Kelly, charged with being drunk on September 18th pleaded guilty, and was fined as, and costs 2d. —Neil McKenzie, who pleaded guilty to a like offence, was discharged with a caution. Vagrancy.— John Morrison and Robert Whitten, charged with offences against the Vagrant Act on September 21st, were each fined 5s and costs 2s.—Henry Lang, charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act on the Ifith September, who pleaded guilty, was fined 10s and costs 13s.—A like oilence charged against a man named Hockey was dismissed.—John Palmer and “Jimmy the Native,” were charged with an offenceunder the Vagrant Act. Both defendants pleaded "uilty.° The case against tiie Maori was dismissed, he being in no way in the wrong. Palmer was fined os, and costs 11s, or 4S hours imprisonment, with an intimation that for the next offence lie would have a month in Picton gaol.
