HOARD OF EDUCATION.

Tuesday, July 5. The Board met this morning at 11 o’clock. Present—Messrs Ward, in the chair, Fell, Paul, Henderson, and Barker. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Leave of absence was granted to Mr W. E. Dive from this meeting. A letter was read addressed to Mr Dive, by Mr 11. Taylor, of Mahakipawa, offering £1 for the bricks in the old school chimney at Mahakipawa. It was stated that two other gentleman were desirous of purchasing these bricks, and the Secretary was instructed to communicate with these parties. Mr Hislop forwarded vouchers for £3ll 10s 3d for the month of June. KAITUNA. It was resolved to advertise for a master for Kaituna School, and the applications received be forwarded to the Committee. TUA MARINA. A letter was read from Mr Chas. O'Sullivan, calling attention to the state of the fence in front of the teacher’s residence, which required painting. The Board agreed that the work should be done. RENWICKTOWN. The Chairman of the Renwiektown School Committee wrote to the Board, pointing out that under the proposed new scheme the salary of the master of the school would be reduced, but there was provision made for special cases, and in view of the valuable services of the present master Mr Tissiman, that this should be a special case; also requesting that a sewing mistress should be appointed. Mr Henderson suggested that the matter should stand over for two months. This was an important matter and the first application of the kind. He should not he able to be at the meeting next month and therefore he suggested a postponement for two months. He also thought that the salary of the master at Ivekerangu should be raised from £BO to £l2O, and that the salary of the mistress at Marlborough Town be raised. He moved that these payments be made from the Ist July. This was agreed to. REGULATIONS. Mr Henderson moved that 200 copies of the new regulations be printed, This was agreed to. BLENHEIM SCHOOL. Mr Fell moved that the architect be requested to inspect the floor of the teacher’s house. Mr Barker seconded the motion, which was carried. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were ordered to be paid :—Salaries, Secretary L 8 fls Sd_; Inspector LlO Ss id ; Teachers, L 249 15s lOd; Bickering (cartage), 7s fid; Smith, Bicton, furniture, Lfi 12s Gd ; Horton, Havelock, for school desks, LlB ; Jones, contractor, Fern Flat school, LSO ; Wemyss repairs Blenheim school, L2 10s Id ; refund High School fees, Lll -. Compton (messen- j ger), L32s Gd ; receipt stamps, LI. Po.stponed, Fraser and Davies, L/ 10s fid, sinking well, Waitohi.
