(From our Own Correspondent.; [By Telegraph.] Wellington, Monday. An adjourned caucus of Government and jts supporters have decided that £150,000

should bo deducted from the Estimates—fSO.OOO being salaries ; that will be equivalent to £200,000 for the whole year. An Opposition caucus was also held to-dav, and a resolution passed to assist Government in making the most substantial reduction, and that salaries of £3OO, with minor offices attached, for which payments of £SO to £IOO is made, the latter are not to be continued. Tuesday, 12.30. The capitation allowance to \ oluntcers is to be discontinued, excepting in the case of the Thames, Waikato, Taranaki, and East and West Coast of the North Island.
