The Chief Commissioner said lie had sent a circular to all the members calling attention to the fact that the Commissioners must be sworn in before a Judge of the Supreme Court. Had any members not been sworn. Mr Hodson said he had not been sworn. He had not the opportunity of seeing the Judge when here. He had brought a copy of the form of the oath in his pocket in order to be sworn. On a former occasion he had been sworn. Mr Robinson said lie had not been sworn on re-appointment. In- ! struetions for the survey of land included i in application No 10, Kenepuru Sound, have been issued, and the survey will be gone on with at once. The above lands are within the boundaries of the district proclaimed as being set apart to be dealt with ! under the deferred payment system. ■ KAIKOUEA. The Chairman said it would be remembered that the Board had resolved that the Ranger should proceed to Kaikoura to inspect the timber, etc., on a block of land at Kaikoura, winch Mr Ingles proposed to transfer to Mr Tenney. The Ranger reported that the land is well timbered, the bush being wholly undisturbed, and no 1 timber of any description having been fcll- | ed or removed up to the present time. Tim- ! her of much smaller growth than that used I in the Pelorus Valley is turned to aci count here. The block will yield : about 0000 feet to the acre, j Mr Ward is now engaged in surveying the j ground, but owing to the difficulty of connecting the section with existing surveys, and the loss of time caused by bad weather the work will not be completed before the sth instant. The Ranger sees no reason for delaying the proposed transfer of the land in question if the Board is satisfied to have it made. The land is isolated from all freehold land.” The Board resolved that the further consideration of the matter should stand over until next day, when it was expected Mr Ingles, who was interested in the matter, would attend. McMahon, Keneptmi Sound, was recommended to be assessed at £1 per acre. KAIKOURA. Mr Ingles here came into the room and said he should have been present at an earlier hour but had been prevented by the weather and the swollen state of the rivers. The Board consented to the proposed transfer of land from Mr Ingles to Mr Tenney. It was resolved that Mr Tenney, be informed that the Board will sanction the transfer to him of Mosers Ingles’ leases over the block of land referred to by Mr Tenney in his letter, on the terms therein mentioned and when this lias been done and Messrs Ingles have surrendered their timber license over the same land the Board is willing to grant a timber license to Mr Tenney on bis paying a tithe of 4d per 100 feet..
