TAIHOA.

FLANNEL .DANCE. A very enjoyable flannel dance, organised' ,by Mr. Walter Beresford, took place in the Taihoa Hall on Tuesday night*- The function was well attended, and greatly appreciated by all those , present. The floor was in excellent condition, and good music was supplied by an orchestra consisting of Misses Kusabs (piano) and Barnes (violin) and Messrs. Bates ('cello), Shepherd (saxophone), and Beresford (drums, etc). Supper, which was catered for, supplied a most refreshing interlude and during the evening various exhibitions of dancing were, given. These consisted of a display ol jazzing by Mr. Beresford and Miss Barnes, and an eccentric dance byMr. Beresford. The latter gentleman also acted ably as M.C. During the evening prizes were, given for the most graceful lady dancer, won by Mrs. E. Barnes, of Ilinucra, and for the best gentleman dancer, awarded to Mr. Kncebone.
