TIRAU.

The Tirau telephone exchange is now open daily from 7 a.m. till 0 p.m., this obtaining from Tuesday ,and being in response to the request by the Tirau branch' of The Farmers’ Union and the Matamata County Council for this extended service, which the number of subscribers now warranted. In advising the County Council on Thursday of the Department’s decision the local postmaster, Mr. J. T. Eccleton, added that the additional request of the Farmers’ Union branch for Hie granting of telephone exchange service on Sundays could not he agreed to.
