CHURCH SOCIAL.
Vicarage Fund Augmented The Anglican church Matamata Vicarage fund was augmented to the amount of £25 2s as the result of a “cake and apron ” afternoon and social held on Thursday. There was a good attendance at both functions, and the response of the public was gratifying to the promoters.
The social in the evening was a most enjoyable affair. The floor was in splendid order and good music was supplied by the pianist, Mr P. Ingham. The ladieß had also provided an excellent supper which was done full justice to. The evening was fruitful as regards vocal items the singers being Miss M. Ross, Miss Jones (Peria), Rev. Moir and Mr A. G. Yardley. All were accorded most pronounced calls for encore items. The accompaniments were played by Miss E. Ross (Walton) and Mr Ingham. The singers were greatly assisted by the violin played by Mr W. T. Darby. Messrs C. D. Rollett and M. McDermott were M’s.C. Extra dances were kindly played by Miss Blennorhassett.
