MATAMATA The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., held its monthly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday. About GOO head of cattle 'wore yarded, There was fair competition for most lines, good 8-year well-conditioned heifers being especially sought after. Good cows would also have sold well, hut were uot on offer. Prices were: .Fat cows (small yarding) to P‘ll, store steers (8-year) £9 5s to £ll, store cows £7 15s to £9, 2year empty heifers £G 10s to £B, small yearling steers £8 to £8 15s, fifteen months heifers (choice) £5 to £5 Ids, yearling heifers £8 5s to £-1, freshdropped calves 8s Gd to 10s. Dairy stock —Best springing heifers £l4 to £ls 15s, backward heifers £7 10s to £9 15s (no good cows offering), 2-year Shorthorn bulls 12 gns to 14£ guineas, yearling bulls not wanted. Sheep—Fat two-tooth ewes and wethers (shorn) 23s 6d. MORIIINSVILLE. There was a large yarding at tiro Farmers' Auctioneering Co’s, sale on Friday. The market was easy and many pens were passed in. Beef sold well but there was a poor demand for stores. Good dairy cows were in demand. Prices 1 : Six pens of fat steers, from Mr T. R. Drummond, sold as follows : 1 pen £22 2s (id ; 4 pens at £l9 10s; 1 pen at £l7 19s; smaller fat steers £l4 17s to £l7 5s ; heavy fat cows £lB Gs to £l3 16s ; lighter sorts lOgns. to llgns, fresh conditioned cows £8 12s to £9 10s ; store cows £0 15s to £7 5s ; there was no demand for 3-year steers, 21 to 3-year steers £9 12s 6d to £ll ss; 2-year empty heifers £8 5s ; smaller sorts £G to £G 4s ; good yearling steers £5 6s to £5 15s; yearling heifers £4 9s to £4 10s; mixed yearlings £2 15s to £3 10s. Dairy cattle, Mr J. E. Pirret’s herd of 15 animals made front £l3 to £18; good dairy cows made from £l3 5s to £18; others from £ll to £l4; good heifers from £l3 5s to £10; others from £ll 5s to £l2 10s. Sheep: Fat ewes 32s 3d to 33s Gd ; fat hoggets 33s to 37s 3d ; empty ewes 25s 9u ; ewes and lambs 35s 3d to 42s 2d. PATETONGA. Store cows, forward condition, £9 os to £l2 6s; backward condition, £5 19s to £9 ; good condition, 18-month to 2-year steers, £7 10s to £8; yearlings, both sexes, £3 12s 6d to £7 (there was no demand for this class of stock); calves, £1 9s to £3; springers, £9 to £lO 15s; bulls, 41gns. to 12£gns.
