At the meeting of the Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ union on Saturday night, Mr L. 11. McAlpine - said that at the last meeting of the Hydro Electric league iu Auckland, it was stated that the requirement of J the South Auckland district for power j was computed to be 00,000 horse ’ power, whilst the capacity of Horahora was'about 1 7,000 horsepower. It was probable, therefore, that the \ league would strive for Arapuni, which was being, supported by Taranaki. It was felt that if the Government took over Horahora it might prejudice the bigger scheme.
