SCHOOL CHILDREN'S CONCERT AND BABY SHOW.

On Wednesday of last week a school children's concert and baby show was held in the Matamata hall by the Red Queen's supporters. The function- was successful.to a high degree, about £SO being realised and the children's efforts were much appreciated. The singing and recitations were very nice and showed that careful tuition had been given the children by Mrs Darby junr. and Miss Wallace. The programe was as follows: — Overture, Mrs W. Darby ; chorus, " Now Pray we for our Country," standards I and II children ; recitation "An Orphan's Thoughts," Mabel Heaps ; song, " Scuse me' Teacher." Kitty Hope ; recitation, "The Doll's Party," school children; recitation, " The two Little Mothers," Marietta Heaps and Marie Darby; chorus, " The Flower Girls," school girls and Miss J. Oliver; song, " Daddy at the War," Billie Ball. Several items were deservedly encored and were repeated.
