PUTARURU.

A meeting called by the riding member, Cr. F. C. Barnett, to discuss what action should be taken in connection with the “Copper Trail” campaign, was held at Putaruru on Thursday last. There was a good attendance, and Mr F. C. Barnett was elected to the chair. After Messrs J. Price (Matamata) and C. L. Stopford (Te Poi) had addressed the meeting numerous questions were asked, and various particulars of the Queen carnival scheme explained. It was decided that challenges be forwarded to Bartholomew’s mill, Mokai, Maeraitai, Puketurua and Waotu to nominate queens. Nominations to close on Saturday next. The lady who by that time has received the largest support will be selected to represent the riding. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the speakers.
