CLEARING SALES
The Farmers' Auctioneering company held a clearing sale of Mr R. Williamson's herd at Okauia on Monday, when there was a .large attendance. Bidding was spirited, and some good average prices were realised. The herd of 21 cows averaged 14$ guineas, the top price being guineas, the bid of Mr W. Bond. On Tuesday a clearing sale was conducted for Mr W. Bartlett by the N.Z. Loan and'Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., when 25 cows were sold. Prices ranged from 10 to 24 gns, the latter being purchased by Mr Darragh. Others at 23, 18£, 16| and 15. V gns. also fell to the same bidder. The other principal buyers were Messrs A. R. Vosper, A. G. Bartlett (Cambridge) and A. A. Brook (Cambridge). The average here worked out at a fraction over 14$ guineas. At the conclusion of Mr Bartlett's sale 27 cows were offered on behalf of Mr Benge. Here some bargains were made early in the sale ; in fact, right through prices seemed in favor of purchasers. The herd averaged 14 guineas.
