TURANGA-O-MOANA.
Miss Cf&rice Chainey has returned to Hamilton after having spent a week with Mrs C. W. Arnold. Miss Aroha Maisey is spending a holiday in Paeroa, Te Aroha and Auckland. Mr T. J. Arnold is on a visit to the East Coast. A social and dance was held in the Turanga-o-moana hall on Thursday, the 18th inst., in aid of Red Cross funds. It was a great success. The floor was in excellent order, and made dancing quite a pleasure. During the evening songs were sung by Mrs F. R. Gibson, Miss Ross and Miss Westwood in a very pleasing manner. Mr Randall also sang in good style, and received an encore. Mr Smales gave a sketch from readings in an efficient manner. His items caused great amusement. A guessing competition was held during the evening, Mrs H. Kelso and Mr McCombs being the winners of the lady’s and gentleman’s prizes. Mr J. Pohlen presented the prizes with a neat little speech, thanking the audience for their good attendance for the good cause. A very pleasant evening terminated about 2.30 a.m The music was kindly supplied by Mr P. C. Ingham in his usual good style. Mr C. Kennington and Mr J. Boulcott carried out the duties of M’sO. in a most satisfactory manner.
