STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. In consequence of the date for the second day of the Cambridge show being fixed for Wednesday last Messrs Dalgefcy A Co.’s monthly stock sale was held at Matamata on Tuesday. There .was a fair entry of stock and a large attendance. All the lines were sold under the hammer. A herd of grade Jersey cows sold for Mr F. Hall averaged just over £l2. There was keen competition for beef, buyers being present from Hamilton and Auckland. A fat cow sold by Mr A. Crowther realised £l3 12s 6d. A line of ten fat cows yarded by Mr Mark Madill brought £l2 14s. Prices were: Pigs, weaners 8s to 12s, small porkers 33s to 425, empty sows £2 10s. Sheep, shorn lambs 12s lid, woolly lambs 15s to 15s lid, 2-tooth ewes 26s 4d, ewes 13s to 235. Cattle, fat cows £lO 10s to £l3 12s 6d, store cows £6 to £9 Is, 2-year heifers in ealf £7 5s to £8 10s, 21 year forward steers £lO to £l2 19s, 18 months steers £6 7s 6d to £7 10s, mixed sex calves £2 10s to £4 10s, steer calves £4, heifer calves £2 17s 6d to £3 14s, bulls £9 os to £ls 17s Gd, dairy cows £ll 15s to £ls 10s. MORRINSVILLE. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Coy’s, sale on Friday there was generally an upward tendency in prices. There was only a small entry of fat steers, but fat cows were yarded in large numbers and sold well. There was a good entry of sheep which were firmer than at the previous sale. Calves showed a considerable advance over the previous sale. Prices were: —Fat steers £l4 to £ls 12s 6d,■ good fat cows £ll 10s 6d to £l4 7s 6d for a beast penned by Mr J. Clements, of Tatuanui, fresh conditioned cows £9 5s to £lO 15s, store cows £6 5s to £8 7s Gd, 2 to 3 years old steers £lO 8s to £l2 Is, 18 months to 2 year steers £G 19s Gd to £B, 2.1- year heifers in calf £7 to £9 10a, cows with calves £9 17s Gd to £lO ss, steer calves £3 8s to £5 2sfor an entry from Mr W. limes, Tatuanui, calves mixed sexes £4 6s for an entry from Mr J. E. Leeson, heifer calves £'3 to £3 17s 6d, heavy bulls £l2 10s to £ls, lighter sorts £G to £lO ss, fat wethers 29s to 31s 3d, fat ewes 2Gs 3d to 30s Gd for an entry from Mr J. Pirritt, 2 tooth ewes 25s 9d to 31s the top price being obtained by Mr .1. Cameron, Walton, old ewes 6s to 15s, fat lambs 19s to 22s Mr J. Pirritt securing the top price, weaner pigs 12s to 17s Gd, slips 24s to 325, light porkers to £2 10s.
