PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
A Presentation. A very nice afternoon function was held in the Presbyterian church, Matamata, on Wednesday last, the ladies of the church meeting to honor Mrs C. D. Dawson, who is leaving the district. Mrs Dawson had been an ardent worker for the church for several years, and thus it was due recognition of her worth and creditable to the ladies that there was a large attendance. The church was prettily decorated with crimson dahlias and asparagus fern. Mrs Jackson received the guests. During the afternoon the Rev. R. W. Jackson, in a nice farewell speech, thanked Mrs Dawson on behalf of the church for all she had done for it. He wished her and her husband continued health and prosperity, and hoped that both would continue their benevolent activities in their new sphere. On behalf of the church people he presented Mrs Dawson with a set of beautiful hair brushes and mirror, all silvermounted and initialed. To Miss Doris Dawson he presented a nice leather writing case. A good musical and vocal programme, contributed by Mesdames Jackson, Cranston, and Free and Miss Fagan, made up a most enjoyable and enthusiastic function.
