WALTON.

Mr Crump has disposed of his farm on Richmond Downs to a neighbor, Mr Gardener. A considerable quantity of stock is being sold locally. Mr W. Dickie averaged £l2 2s 6d for a line of 100 fat cows, and got 23s 6d for 400 fat lambs. Mr Drummond sold a mob of 2500 wethers at 38s, one of the best prices obtained in this district. The good roads problem and the effect of modern transport on the lightly metalled roads is responsible for some discussion among the settlers here. The trouble is not so much about the the good roads, but the payment. The farmer is greatly influenced by " first costs."
