Films to aid Polynesians

The Government has commissioned the Asia Pacific research unit to produce two scripts for films, as part of its programme to assist migrants in adjusting to life and work in New Zealand. The unit’s managing director, Mr Anthony Haas, said he will be working closely with Pacific Island councils in the development of the films and would welcome suggestions from other members of the public to help illustrate challenges faced by migrants.

The main theme of the film is expected to be “Who Shall I Ask?” and Mr Haas said it will deal with how migrants from different countries deal with housing, work, health, education and New Zealand society.
