London, July 21. It is expected that the Earl ot Carnarvon will take an early opportunity of considing the memorials relative to the release of several Irish prisoners. The " Times " commenting on the matter, condemns the action of Lord Salisbury in truckling to Mr Parnell. July 22. The King of Abyssinia will probably send troops to relieve the beleaguered garrison at Kassala. July 24. It is announced that the marriage of Princess Beatrice will be solemnised in Lilliugham Church. The Queen will give the bride away. Preparations are being made for great public rejoicings on the occasion. July 28. In the House of Commons last night, the Hon. R. Dourke, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced in reply to a question that Her Majesty's Government were taxing steps to relieve the beleagured garrison at Kassala. Cairo, July 22. A messenger has arrived at Assouan to-day from Gal lia, bringing news that the Mahdi died of small-pox on June 20th last. He is succeeded by Khalifa Abdoolah. Madrid, July 27. The Bombay 44 Gazettee " this day states that the Ameer has granted his sanction for the cantonment of 10,000 British troops at Candahar (Afghanistan). Melbourne, July 25. The police authorities have announced theii deteiinitiation to suppress cash betting on the race course within this Colony. The announcement has caused considerable comment in spoiling circles.
